A 2014 PEW survey revealed that 62% of Americans don't know a Muslim.  A 2017 study by Georgia State University revealed that attacks where the perpetrator is "Muslim" receive 449% more media attention than similar attacks where the perpetrator belonged to some other faith or no faith.  This environment of ignorance combined with disproportionate anti-Muslim rhetoric only promotes irrational hate and fear of Muslims.  

The #MuslimMarine Periscope sessions are my efforts to provide a counter-narrative to the hate mongering we see daily in the media.  Please join me for an info session on Islam.  Every session is authentic and unscripted where my viewers can ask me any question that may be on their mind about Islam. No question is taboo.  I just ask that you maintain mutual respect and refrain from profanity. You will find I give straightforward answers based on the teachings of the Holy Quran and the life of Prophet Muhammad pboh.  But fair warning:  I do not debate dogma.  I'm not here to prove "I'm right and you're wrong".  I'm simply here to provide you the right information about what Islam teaches and it's completely up to you to either accept it or reject it.

At the end of the day, we may find that we disagree on some points and that's OK.  At least we will get to know a little more about one another and are a little less fearful of one another as a result of this conversation - which in my view is progress.  I hope to see you on #Periscope soon.
